Debra Penrod joined MMIC in 1984 as an underwriting secretary. After 10 years in underwriting, she moved into a PC support technician position in the Information Technology department. During her 20-year career in IT, she rose through the ranks and in 2010 she became vice president, IT and chief information officer. She held many positions in between, from LAN administrator to manager, IT consulting and customer service.

To stay relevant in her industry, Debra regularly attends the PIAA and the PIAA Technology, HR and Finance conferences. She is an active member of the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association, volunteering on the Executive Education Program planning committee. She participates in industry CIO roundtable sessions and attends women’s leadership conferences.

Debra has system engineer certifications in Novell and Microsoft and is a graduate of the Mini MBA Program at the University of St. Thomas.
